Take any train to milan (3.5 hours south) specifically to Bergamo airport which is 40 min north) then you can fly wizzair to katowice (1 hour) and transfer to krakow. Cost of fight about 35 USD one way.
Travel time by train is much much longer espiecially once you get to Poland. Also Poland not part of Eurorail and the trains are old and scary. You can only get to Krakow by international train from that direction via Vienna or Prague. So you should fly unless you realy love trains.
