try to see the concentration camps to pay your respects
I visited last month..have a look at the Golden Hostel, it’s central (literally next to railway station), staff will collect you from the airport too. It’s not fancy but safe - very clean and staff are great. You also get breakfast at the cafe’ next door.
I booked a private tour - Auschwitz / Birkenau and the Salt Mines (a must see) for two people, the guy I booked charged 350 zl (works out about 85 quid each) he collected us from hostel and dropped us back, he also threw in a visit to the Jewish quarter and the Schindler factory…some charge for this but you CAN’T go in…it’s in the process of being done up.
Tour I booked was proTourscrakow…
Visit the Jewish quarter too.
It’s a lovely city and I felt very safe…
Enjoy
Auschwitz is really depressing and has tons of tourists. I’d rather go see the Wawel Castle or some museums in the city.
check this:
Of Course,
Krakow is a wonderfully artistic and beautiful city, that used to be called the Paris of the East. Actually, nevermind, that was warsaw. Anyway go see the museums at Wawel, the ancient polish king’s castle, and see the rynek, or town square. Also highly recommended are the shops and streets around that area, and of course Wieliczka Salt Mine.
“A Salt Mine, why would i go there?”
Let me tell you, it’s not wandering around tunnels, and seeing salt. The entire mine is made up of large rooms and cavens that are well designed and built. There’s a church, a wedding hall, a theater, etc. so go see it.
Have fun in Krakow
