I doubt it.
Buy bottled water there. If she doesn’t want to drink the tap water, the bottled water is distilled and pure. The locals often buy it because their home supplies can be brackish. I found this in Cancun and Tulum.
Also, brush your teeth with bottled water AND sterilize your brush in mouthwash that has alcohol.
don’t think the water will be allowed but you can get bottled water there, you’ll be fine - enjoy!
just a note from my personal experience…. dont be lax on not drinking the water. While it wasn’t Mexico, i wen’t to a country where the water is not drinkable. we only drank bottled water. however, we ate at restaraunts quite often while we were there.
i developed a stomach infection that induced IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) probably from getting parasites from the water used in the food we ate. my stomach changed permanently since this experience and I am unable to eat many foods I once was able to.
anyway, it is a waste of packing space to bring bottled water, because you will be able to buy bottled water no problem! HOWEVER, if she’s going to be paranoid about something, it should be regarding eating in restaurants, because you dont know how clean the water is they wash the dishes with… or cook the food with.
just be careful! i wish i was more careful, because i’ve had chronic stomach pains ever since my trip two years ago…
You should have no problems but you can always call the airline you are travelling on to confirm that you can bring items. You will not be able to bring it in the cabin with you.
Yes, it will be allowed. You might be cautious about the bottles, though–maybe putting them in huge ziploc bags or something, just in case. Also, be mindful of the weight–6 or 8 liters of water weighs something like 15 pounds, so if you are already close to your luggage weight limit, pay attention to that.
You will not have any issues bringing bottled water in your checked luggage. I agree with your girlfriend. I travel to Mexico a lot and I am still pretty cautious about what I drink and where I will drink water. I have not been to Cabo but if the hotel advertises purified water I would not worry about showers and brushing my teeth but I would drink either the bottled water that you bring yourself or the bottled water that they will provide in your room. I usually drink beer with my dinner so that I don’t have ice cubes in soda if I leave the resort area and eat at a restaurant in town. One additional comment…the all-inclusives in Mexico give you so much fruit that you may notice some stomach issues and mis-diagnose as a problem with the water. I always eat way more fruit than my body is used to when I go to these places and sometimes that gets me. Trust me when I say that you cannot function if you actually get a bacterial infection from the water. You would not want to leave your room. A little diahrea is usually related to a vacation diet and frequently the amount of fruit you’ve eaten.
