The Jews are, as you know, originally from the middle east. The region where we settled was Judea. But when the Romans conquered the region, they kicked the Jews out and then renamed the region ‘Palestina’, after the sea faring Philistines (thus today the name ‘Palestine’)
The Jews were then scattered across the globe. Some Jews made it to Europe and that’s why there were Jews in Poland, Germany, Austria, France. (ashkenasi jews)
Others settled in Spain and Portugal (sephardi Jews)
Hope this helped explain it a bit - for more info check out:
Well, Jews were dispersed throughout the nations after the fall of Jerusalem. I can’t tell you dates but I can explain something of this phenomena. At one period the Poles expelled all of the Jews from Poland and confiscated their businesses and properties. Then at another period in Polish history the Polish King decided to invite the Jews to settle in Poland again because the Polish economy was in shambles and it was felt that the Jews would help to improve the economy. And so it came to pass. Poland once possessed the Ukraine and when the Russians conquered the Ukraine they inherited a large Jewish population. Jews were the scapegoat for Europe and whenever something terrible happened in a European country, the population blamed the Jews and attached the Jewish communities. Jews were at one time or another expelled from almost every European country were they lived. Years after the Jews were expelled from England, the Plague turned up in England. The British were so used to blaming the Jews for all mishaps that at some point a mob of people who blamed the Jews for the plague marched into what used to be the Jewish Quarter in London. When they arrived in order to punish the Jews for the plague, they realized that there were no longer any Jews in England. The Jews have always been a blessing to every land that they inhabited.
They were expelled from Spain in 1492 and found refuge in any country willing to have them. They were excellent traders and economies thrived wherever the went. Muslims sent ships to transport them to the Arab world in order to improve their economy.

I beleive 3 million Jews died during the war just in Poland. Jews came to Poland because no other country wanted them and wouldn’t tolerate them.
They’re beginning to come back to Poland now
