Blame the fact we’re no in the Euro and costs in the UK are so high compared to the rest of the Europe.
I don’t want the Euro, and don’t like being controlled by Eruope, but not being a proper part of Europe will see much more of this in the future. We can all be proud to be British but unemployed.
It is sad because the Cadbury leagacy was built on looking after its workforce, providing decent homes and holidays and temperance.
What is left? Green & Black fab choc, organic and fairtrade!
Elizabeth I’m sorry to disillusion you but Greens was bought out by Cadbury Schweppes last year.
Very few manufacturing services left in the UK now this is all down to us being part of the eu and a little to do with the fact that we do not have the Euro. It was predicted about 15 years ago that there will about 10 big comapanies who will have control with man well known companies going to the Wall. It’s all about greed. And we are partly to blame as we are greedy too. Much wants more and it will all come back to haunt us before too long you wait and see. Then it will be WWIII.
Sorry to play the devils advocate but Cadburys moving to Poland is just the tip of the iceberg.
Nestle bought our local choclate factory and then the patent of a brand of chocolate made there.
They then closed the factory, with a loss of several hundred jobs and moved elsewhere!
Say no more!
It’s just par for the course now. Look at HP Sauce they moved to Holland earlier this year. All the Great British household names will soon be no more.
It doesn’t bother me one bit - I’ve been boycotting Nestle products all my life because of their hidden political agenda, and Cadbury for the total inedibility of their products - but then, I am not British!
Hold up a minute.
People are normally on YA moaning about Polish people coming here for work - we can’t have it both ways people.
Worries me that we give up manufacturing in UK and just except it . i know all the arguments cheaper costs labour etc.In England we put too much faith in service industry’s .Add chocolate too the long list of things we don’t make anymore . sad isnt it ?
Absolute disgrace. Cadbury has always been associated with Bournville in Birmingham. The area around the factory is beautiful and Cadbury built many houses there in the past for its workers. I will be surprised if they can find any workers in Poland. I thought they were all over here now! It was the same with HP. When I was a youngster I lived in Aston in Birmingham. When you walked out the front door if you turned left you could smell Ansells brewery and if you turned right you could smell the HP factory. Now both have gone from the area. If you want really fantastic chocolate try Hotel Chocolat. They are more expensive but once you have tried their range you will soon forget the likes of Cadbury.
Lets start a petition, I can’t live without cadbury’s we can’t let them leave.
