Do I need an international driver’s license or something like that to drive in Poland?

Check with the rental agency to be sure, but an American license (or theirs, here) should be sufficient to rent a car in Europe.
Yes, its sufficient thats what I use. Also my friend works at Avis in Poland and he rents cars to foriegners and he would have told me if I needed somethign else. I was also stopped by the police once next to my car (i wasnt driving) and they didnt say anythign about my license. just be careful on the roads as they are not in very good shape. aLso the rules of the road are a little different here, (european driving)
