Yes, because during that time there were many Jews there and Hitler did try to conquer Russia
Of course- mainly from that area in fact - Warsaw, Lodz, Lublin, Krakow- all that was the “Soviet” area
To my knowledge, the Soviets did not hand over jews to germany. After the german attack on Russia jews in the newly-conquered territories, including eastern Poland, were sent to KZs of course.
