Marian Rejewski was one of the Polish mathematicians who broke the enigma code during WW2. I would say this some very important stuff!!
I hope it’s a short report. Type Polish history under search. Should get you some good info.
Firstly I am not sure how do you understand holocaust in Poland. Well, the concentrations camps were in Poland but German soldiers killed people in those camps because Hitler and most German blamed for their failures and wanted to destroy some ethnical, religious groups for example gypsys and of course jews(In the camps were polish soldiers and even people who helped jews). They were living in horrible conditions( without food, place to sleep, clothes, water… ) and they had to work almost all day. Of course polish tried to hide some jews and help them in the camps (giving food, medicines and etc.)
Now I want to present you some very important people from Poland and historical events :
- Pope John Paul II who played a great role in destroying communism in Europe, said sorry for crimes which church has done (e.g. inquisition) started making a connection between other religions etc.
- Lech Walesa who dealed with the communistic power and he has won, he received the Peaceful Nobel Award
- Tadeusz Kosciuszko and Kazimierz Pulawski who helped and fought in the USA for the independence ( they were even politicians in the USA and took part in very important consultations)
- Maria Sklodowska Curie invented the Radium very useful element because it facilitates making X-ray
- In 1920 polish military forces overcame the bolshevic army. This event stopped a russian communistic expansion to East ( without this winnig today Europe wouldn’t be the same as now)
- Polish military forces played a great role during WW II polish soldiers reached the church in Monte Casino very important german base and helped the UK during hitler’s invasion.
That is all I remember for now. I think that my information will be useful for you. If I remind somethin I will write it down at once.
